Today is World Health Day, and I want to take a moment to talk about something I believe deeply: health is not just about the numbers on a chart or the vitamins on your shelf. It’s about how you live, how you love, and how you care for yourself in the quiet moments.
When I was younger, health meant energy and agility — being able to push through long days and bounce back with ease. But as I’ve grown older (and, I hope, wiser), I’ve come to understand that real health is something deeper. It’s peace in your thoughts. Calm in your body. Warmth in your spirit.
It’s sleeping well without worry. Waking up with purpose. Taking walks not just to stay fit, but to listen — to your breath, to your prayers, to the wind.
It’s choosing food that nourishes you, not punishes you. It’s resting without guilt. Moving with joy. Laughing, loudly and often.
On this World Health Day, I don’t want to throw facts at you. I want to offer a soft reminder:
You are allowed to slow down.
You are worthy of care, even when no one’s watching.
And your health — physical, emotional, and spiritual — is a garden worth tending, day by day.
So today, I’ll be taking a little more time with my tea. Saying a quiet thank you to my body for carrying me through. Sending a message to a friend. Reading something that feeds me from the inside out.
What about you?
Let’s use this day not just to talk about health, but to honor it — with small, loving acts.
Because in the end, it’s not about being perfect.
It’s about being present.
With care and light,
Ann Lou Rosès
